San Eugenio Church - Inside

The first church to be used by Anglican English speaking congregations in the south in Tenerife South in 1985/86. The Chaplaincy was officially recognised by the Spanish Authorities in 1991. Since that time there has been uninterrupted Anglican worship in this church, which is a truly ecumenical church, used also by the Roman Catholics and the German Lutherans.

It is a simple, colonial style church which is perfect for both our smaller midweek said Eucharist as well as our very popular Sunday Worship which includes your favourite hymns and the Eucharist (Get there early if you want a seat in the winter months!).

To find us, ask for the Hotel Bourganville and we are just down the road on the bend in front of a small commercial development called Pueblo Canario. (See map)

After the services we always meet for fellowship, just round the corner on the main road in Zumeria Viva Mariana, for coffee, juices or something stronger.

We look forward to welcoming you on your next visit to Playa Las Americas.

REPRESENTATIVES TO THE CHURCH COUNCIL
Philip Davies, Jean Kelly, Elizabeth Thomas, Alec West

JEAN KELLY - ASSISTANT WARDEN (SAN EUGENIO) & ELECTORAL ROLL OFFICER

Jean was born in 1948 in Burnham on Sea, Somerset. Following a move to Radstock, near Bath, she attended Midsomer Norton Grammar School and then went to college in Bristol to study for an Institute of Management diploma. After marriage to Ralph, in 1969, she worked for a jeweller and a contract cleaner, as well as helping her husband run his Limousine and Taxi company and raising their daughter Helen. She then spent eighteen years working for a national electrical distribution company, where she stayed until 1995, continuing to run the family business after Ralph's death in 1988.

In 1995, after illness of both herself and her second husband, Kelly, they came to Tenerife to 'retire'. They were told by friends in the UK "Tenerife is only an island. You will see it all in a week and be bored", Jean and Kelly enjoy their life here. They are involved with the Swallows, the Royal British Legion, the Lions, the Masons and the Fishing Club. They have five children and eleven grandchildren between them.

Jean was Treasurer for the Chaplaincy from 1998 to 2002, then took a year off to write a book (which is still in its infancy!!). She was re-elected to the council in 2003.
